I compete all the time, but my dumb ass seems to have had a mental block lately when it comes to turning on that different mindset so that it transcends from training, to competition. It’s hard; not everyone has that championship mentality switch that they can turn on and off at a moments notice. Then, […]

Throughout life, I have attempted to try my best. With friendships, relationships, academics, and competition. I’ve accomplished some things, but without a doubt, not one day goes by where I am sure I could have done better. Tried harder. Worked harder. Stopped making excuses. Achieved better results. But I’m a nobody in a sea full […]

I am she who fights in front. Neither watching from the back nor dictating how to lead from afar, but thrusting myself to the front lines of the challenges I face and determined to do all that I can to prepare myself for the battles to come. After all, I could never request favors of […]

It’s hard not to feel like trash constantly in a sport that challenges every facet of your being. Let alone feeling like fucking garbage in your day to day life when inevitably, something doesn’t go according to plan or your mental health is taking a hit due to personal reasons. A lot of times, especially […]

Probably one of the hardest things in the world to deal with, is watching one of our loved ones suffer or get hurt and not being able to stop the pain from occurring. I don’t think it ever hurt me emotionally as badly before as when my husband or his kids were hurting from something […]

MMA and BJJ are without a doubt the hardest, yet most rewarding feats I have ever dared to partake in. But the road to success has never been paved with smooth asphalt, but instead, littered with potholes and roadblocks along the way. I guess all the physical pain and mental anguish I have endured along the way have made me truly appreciate the things I have also accomplished, but dammit I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready for a little bit of good to meander my way. Nothing is hard enough to keep me from my goals though, and that is for sure something I guarantee.

We either get discouraged by our setbacks, or we use them as the fuel to help ignite us further into working harder to accomplish the goals we set for ourselves. I refuse to call the recent fight loss I had a failure; sure it stings and I cried a bit that night upset at what […]

Diets don’t work and hear me out. There are a bunch of mitigating factors, such as the tendency to overestimate the calories we burn and underestimate the calories we eat, which is why tracking all of this is crucial (countless apps cater to this nowadays). There’s also a lot of misinformation or misunderstanding of said […]
